It was Friday morning and I woke up and went to my 39 week doctors appointment, hoping he would tell me I was closer to meeting my little girl. Dr. Jones told me I was 3 cm dilated and 75% effaced and that he would be surprised if I lasted through the weekend. Well... Friday came and went and by Saturday I was going crazy. On Saturday after walking around the outlets (hoping it would get things going) me and Byron went to dinner with his family at Carraba's. After dinner we went to his brother's house and my mother in law and sister in law talked me into taking some caster oil.
Caster oil is one of those old wives tales. It supposedly jump starts labor. Well yeah.. I knew it was a bad idea but I was pretty desperate by then. So Saturday night at around 10:30 I took 2 tbs of it. We got home late and I couldn't sleep. Then around 2:30 am I shot up out of bed because.. You guessed it.. Diarrhea (the Laxative duh). Well I was in a LOT of pain. Here comes the embarrassing part.. I had never taken a laxative before so I didn't know if it was really really bad diarrhea pain I was having or if it was labor. But after a few minutes it was VERY APPARENT that I was in labor. So we grabbed our stuff and sped to the hospital.
We got to the hospital and right after I got there I asked for my epidural. It was pretty embarrassing because I hadn't even been admitted yet. The nurse looked at me like I was a complete idiot. So they hooked me up to monitor baby's heartbeat and my contractions. After an hour they came back to see if I had progressed enough to be admitted. Sure enough I went from a 3 1/2 to a 5 1/2. I kept asking for my epidural because I mean if I could not feel what I was feeling that woulda been kinda nice. Well long story short I didn't get my epidural until I was 8 1/2 cm dilated.
After only four short hours of labor and ten minutes of pushing we welcomed our beautiful little girl, Tatum Lynne, into this world on June 9th, 2013. She was born at 7:03 am. She was 7 lb 3 oz, 19 1/2 inches long, and we were immediately smitten.
